Jonathan Pay
Certified Occupational Therapy Assistant (COTA)
Jonathan grew up in a tiny mining/ranching town in Nevada with about 1,000 people, in a county of roughly 9,000. One thing about Jonathan is that he loves horses. His first encounter with a horse was around 2 years of age with his uncle, which spurred a lifelong obsession with the animals and spent as much time as possible at a friend's ranch working with them. One day, while helping another friend clean the corral of her barrel racing horse he found himself running as fast as he could away from the horse. He got too close and the horse did not take kindly to the lack of space and gave chase. He eventually found safety up a tree until his friend was able to calm the horse. Despite many exciting tales to spin he still loves being around horses as much as possible.
Jonathan's first introduction to occupational therapy came through his younger brother, who needed OT at a young age. Seeing the difference therapy made for his brother planted an early seed, even though it took time before Jonathan realized OT would become his career. Jonathan loves working with children on all the foundational OT skills—fine motor development, sensory processing, and daily routines—but has found a special niche in psychosocial development. He is particularly passionate about helping children build self-regulation, social skills, and practical coping strategies so they can feel more confident, calm, and capable in their everyday lives.
Jonathan was married in 2024 and joined his wife's three sons to his own son. They recently welcomed a new baby daughter as well, turning a small family of two into a busy, joyful family of seven. Their home also includes two doodle pups, Daisy and Duke and a corn snake, who add even more fun and energy to the mix.
