Rebecca Luke

Certified Occupational Therapy Assistant (COTA)

I have always enjoyed creating things. This meant my birthday parties often included a craft like turning t-shirts into aprons and making paper adventure packs. One year I decided to mix things up and create little baby packages for new babies in the Dominican Republic. I took all my friends to the thrift store and we shopped for cute baby clothes and blankets. After wrapping up sets of baby clothes I sent them off with my grandma to the Dominican Republic. The local hospital was able to give them to new moms who would otherwise not have clothes for their babies. I love using my crafty and thrifty talents to help people and I am so grateful to be able to do it everyday.

In high school all the seniors had to do a career project for school. I knew I wanted to help people but the medical field grossed me out too much. I also knew I wanted to work with kids but I didn't want to be a teacher. So I decided to google “jobs that help people” and there it was, Occupational Therapy. I went to Idaho State University to get my Associates in Occupational Therapy Assistant and am currently in my last year of my bachelors in psychology so I can progress to get a masters in Occupational Therapy.

Although I was born in Sacramento, California, I was raised in Idaho so naturally I love the outdoors. Including biking, kayaking, camping, hot air ballooning and more. In my free time I also enjoy crafting and anything nerdy.
