Sarah Shifley
Certified Occupational Therapy Assistant (COTA)
I grew up in a small farm town in Northern Idaho, near the Washington/Idaho border, with acres of outdoor space to explore. My favorite place to play was the creek, where I could explore downriver, catch frogs, and find all the supplies for baking endless amounts of mud pies. I believe messy, outdoor play is the best, and I want all children to experience the joy that comes with exploring their world.
I love the scope of practice for occupational therapy; our mission is to help others "Live Life to the Fullest." During my clinical fieldwork rotation, I experienced the magic of helping children make amazing progress toward their goals through play-based strategies. It was then that I knew I wanted to work in pediatrics.
I still enjoy the outdoors and can often be found hiking with my family and our dogs, spending time on the water with my paddleboard, or attending my kids' sports activities. When I am not otherwise occupied, I also enjoy reading and cooking.
